Mike McCain has invented a Third World, portable mixer, consisting of
  1. an oil drum
  2. a lawnmower blade
  3. a short length of PVC pipe
  4. the rear end of an old car.

This mixer is designed to be towed behind  just about anything, car, truck, horse or burro.  When towed the turning wheels turn the lawnmower blade.

Another version of the "Third World Mixer", this uses a 4' diameter stock tank and has welded undersupports.  Bolted onto square steel pipe, the holes are sealed with bondo.

Here's another tow mixer using a plastic water tank.

The mixer consists of a 300 gallon tank with a blade in the bottom, powered by the power take-off from a tractor.  After mixing, the slurry is released down the wooden trough into the "squish box."  Excess water is squeezed out of the slurry by a 5" hydraulic cylinder with an 8 foot stroke, it develops 60,000 pounds of pressure converting 9 feet of slurry into a very strong 1 foot block!

Mike McCain's large capacity $65 batch mixer.
1 fill about halfway with paper..
2 fill to nearly top with water..
3 add (8-9) 2/3 full 5 gallon buckets of  strained(1" chicken wire) sandy dirt during mixing..
4 one bag of cement..
5 vary mix to change strength(add more cement etc)

After mixing, pull drainplug and load batches into a wheel barrow to transport slurry to forms to dry in whatever shape is desired, or apply slurry directly to a structure.
